Hullo Ragtime! at the London HIppodrome

The Beauty Chorus of the London Hippodrome, led by the star of their popular revue, Hullo Ragtime! walking along the gangplank from the stage, over the orchestra and through the stalls. Written by Albert de Courville and Max Pemberton, and with a sketch by J. M. Barrie, Hullo Ragtime! was, as the name suggests, a revue based on the new, fashionable ragtime music and would mark a successful transition for the Hippodrome from its original focus of circus and variety. Date: 1913

Hullo Ragtime!: The Beauty Chorus of London Hippodrome's Unforgettable Procession (November 19, 1913) This evocative photograph captures a memorable moment from the London Hippodrome's groundbreaking revue, Hullo Ragtime! Led by the star of the production, the radiant Beauty Chorus gracefully makes their way off the stage, marching along the gangplank over the orchestra and through the stalls. The scene is set against the backdrop of the auditorium's opulent decor, with the audience in rapt attention, eagerly absorbing the infectious energy of the performance. Hullo Ragtime!, written by Albert de Courville and Max Pemberton with a sketch by J.M. Barrie, represented a significant shift for the London Hippodrome. Having initially gained fame for its circus and variety acts, the Hippodrome embraced the new, fashionable ragtime music and transformed into a vibrant hub of entertainment.
