EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the exterior of the Lads of the Village Public House, located in the heart of North Kensington, London. The image, taken in the 1960s, showcases the corner view of this historic pub with its distinctive sign and red brick facade. The Lads of the Village, which was previously owned by the Charrington and Company Limited, was a popular local watering hole for over three decades. The back of this vintage print reveals the trading record for the pub, which indicates that it was in operation from 1938 and 1961. The pub's address, W10 5DB, adds to its authenticity and sense of place. By July 2018, the pub had undergone a significant transformation and was known as The Village or Frames. However, it had been closed since June 2016, and renovation work was underway. The Lads of the Village Pub was a beloved institution in North Kensington, and its closure was a loss to the community. This photograph serves as a reminder of the pub's rich history and the role it played in the lives of its patrons. The image transports us back in time, allowing us to imagine the lively conversations, laughter, and camaraderie that once filled its cozy interior.
