This stunning Neo-Greco-style wall hanging, circa 1900, showcases the opulence and elegance of late 19th-century French interior design. The intricately detailed chromolithograph, created by Henry Sicard and A. Farradesche after an illustration by Ernest Foussier, depicts a grand room adorned with Neo-Greco motifs. The central feature of the room is the wall hanging itself, which includes a gilded pelmet, decorated cream drapes, and a satin curtain. The curtain is bordered with applied wool or serge, featuring colored applications and fringes. The lower part of the wall hanging is decorated with a painted wall design, adding an extra layer of visual interest. The room is further furnished with a croisee Neo-Grecque planche 2, a wooden and gilded screen, and a Russian lambrequin. The armchair and window are dressed with the same cream-toned fabric, and the window features a silk Russian toile or serge curtain with a matching fringe. The petite soie rideau, or small silk curtain, is also depicted, adding a delicate touch to the overall design. Ernest Foussier, the French architect and interior decorator who created this design, was known for his innovative and luxurious interiors. Thezard Fils, a specialty architecture library in France, published Foussier's designs in their collection of New Models of Wall Hangings and Window Decorations in 1900.
