As detailed on the reverse of this print (available upon request), the pub was damaged during enemy action in 1940 and was forced to close temporarily. Tragically, it was completely demolished by further enemy action in 1941. The Fountain PH was once part of the Hoare & Company Limited estate, a prominent brewing business in London.
