EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite print captures the grandeur and elegance of the Royal Wedding March held in London on March 30, 1863, between Prince Albert Edward, the Prince of Wales, and Princess Alexandra of Denmark. The image, set against a gilt-edged oval border, showcases the newlywed couple in all their regal splendor. Prince Albert Edward, the eldest son of Queen Victoria, is depicted in his full military uniform, complete with a feathered bonnet adorned with a gold crown and a sash bearing the Order of the Garter. His coat of arms, emblazoned with the Tudor rose and the crosses of Hanover and Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, is proudly displayed on his chest. Beside him stands Princess Alexandra, resplendent in a white satin gown, adorned with lace and pearls, and a diamond diadem in her hair. Her train is held by two ladies-in-waiting, while her bridesmaids, dressed in blue silk, follow behind. The wedding march, held at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace, was a grand affair, attended by members of the British royal family and European nobility. The marriage of the Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra was a significant event in the Victorian era, as it marked the beginning of a new chapter in the British monarchy and the potential succession of a new king. This stunning portrait, with its intricate embossed detail and gold accents, is a testament to the opulence and grandeur of the Royal Wedding March of 1863 and a reminder of the rich history and tradition of the British monarchy.
