This photograph, taken in 1910, features three renowned opera singers of the early 20th century: Mme Edith Clegg, Armand Crabbe, and Murray Davey. Edith Clegg, a celebrated contralto, is depicted in the center, her expressive face framed by a cascade of curls. To her left is Armand Crabbe, a baritone with a powerful and versatile voice, his intense gaze fixed on the camera. To his right stands Murray Davey, another baritone, known for his elegant stage presence and rich, resonant tone. The trio had all graced the prestigious stages of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, with their exceptional talents. Edith Clegg had made her debut at Covent Garden in 1899, singing the role of Ulrica in Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera. Armand Crabbe followed suit in 1904, performing the title role in Don Giovanni. Murray Davey made his debut in 1906, singing the role of Silvio in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. The 1910s were a golden era for opera, and these three singers were among the most admired artists of the time. Their collaboration on various productions at Covent Garden and other prestigious European opera houses brought them international acclaim.
