This photograph, taken from the shores of Cowes, Isle of Wight, England, in 1879, chronicles the exhilarating start of the ocean race between the yachts Henrietta, Fleetwing, and Vesta. The vintage image transports us back to the 1870s, an era of elegance and adventure, where the wealthy and daring took to the sea to test their skills and the capabilities of their magnificent vessels. The Henrietta, a grand three-masted schooner, is seen at the left of the image, her sails billowing in the wind as her crew, dressed in their Victorian finery, eagerly await the starting signal.
