EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the Douglas C-47A-5-DK Skytrain (ex Armee de l Air) on display at Le Bourget Airport with the Musee de l air et de l espace in July 1982. This historic aircraft, with serial number 92449 and call sign FA, has a rich history dating back to its delivery to the United States Army Air Force on January 10, 1944. It served with the Eighth Air Force's 442nd Troop Carrier Group during World War II, participating in missions such as transporting paratroopers to Normandy on D-Day.
After its military service, this C-47 was transferred to French civil registry as F-BEFB before eventually being acquired by the French Air Force in May 1960. In 1982, it was noted at the Musee de l Air in Paris where aviation enthusiasts could admire its historical significance.
In more recent years, this iconic aircraft was repainted in fake colors and given a new serial number (42-100558 Buzz Buggy), adding an interesting twist to its already fascinating story. This print is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Douglas C-47A-5-DK Skytrain and its important role in aviation history.
