Cierva W11 Air Horse - A Visionary Leap in Aviation The Cierva W11 Air Horse, an engineering marvel of the interwar period, is depicted in this photograph. Designed by Spanish engineer Juan de la Cierva, this autogyro, a type of rotorcraft that combines the features of both helicopters and airplanes, was a groundbreaking innovation in aviation.
