George Brown and Caravan. When George Brown 68, retired from his carriers business
George Brown and Caravan. When George Brown 68, retired from his carriers business, he and his wife, Jennie also 68, couldn t bear to be parted from their old horse, Duke. So because George had always loved the open road, he bought a brokendown gipsy caravan and with Jennies help, worked on it twelve months to turn it into a trim little home. And yesterday with Duke between the shafts, they set off from the Bolton cottage where they have lived for forty years for their first caravan trip to the Lake District. With them went grandson Brian. Bolton, Greater Manchester, April 1949.

Captured in April 1949 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, this image showcases the Browns bidding farewell to their cherished cottage of forty years as they set off for their first-ever caravan trip to the picturesque Lake District. Accompanying them on this memorable journey is their grandson Brian.
