A deputation of leading actors and actresses presented a letter of protest over the threatened demolition of the Shaftesbury Theatre to the Department of the Environment. The protest letter has been signed by over 100 leading members of the theatrical profession. They were seen by Mr Geoffrey Rippon, the Secretary of State for the Environment.
