R. A. F Blenheim fuel supplies in North Africa. Several of these attacks took place

R.A.F Blenheim fuel supplies in North Africa.
Several of these attacks took place during the first week of fighting in Libya and were directed against emery fuel supplies. These raids are playing a large part in the Libyan offensive, not only by destruction of stores and patrol, but by causing the emery to detach its fighters in order to protect its communications in the backward areas.
Blenheims were despatched to attack petrol lorries and motor transport on the road between Homs and Misurata.
Direct hits were obtained on petrol tanker and trailer which left in flames and other vehicles were also attacked.
Emery aircraft tried unsuccessfully to intercept the raider aircraft which attacked at nought feet.
An emery gun post was silenced.

R. A. F Blenheim Strikes at Enemy Fuel Supplies in North Africa

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print captures a pivotal moment during World War II, showcasing the relentless efforts of the Royal Air Force (R. A. F) to disrupt enemy operations in North Africa. Taken on December 7th, 1941, this image reveals an intense air raid targeting crucial fuel supplies belonging to the opposing forces. During the initial week of fighting in Libya, R. A. F Blenheim bombers were deployed to strike enemy petrol lorries and motor transport along the Homs-Misurata road. The precision of these attacks is evident as direct hits caused a petrol tanker and trailer to burst into flames while other vehicles faced similar destruction. The significance of these raids extends beyond mere material damage. By targeting fuel supplies, the R. A. F successfully diverted enemy fighters from engaging in frontline combat towards protecting their vital communication lines in remote areas. This strategic move played a substantial role in supporting the Libyan offensive against hostile forces. In this striking photograph, one can observe a burst near a tanker and trailer before they fell victim to British firepower. Despite attempts by enemy aircraft to intercept them, Blenheims operated fearlessly at extremely low altitudes with remarkable success. Notably, an emery gun post was silenced during this operation. This historic image serves as a testament to both the bravery of R. A. F personnel and their significant contributions towards victory during World War II's tumultuous years.
