A battalion of the Reconnaissance Corps had the idea of embodying in their swimming training, a series of competitive events and the result was an amusing and instructive gala.
Spinners put their arms in a reconnaissance boat and plunged in and pushed it across the river, non swimmers crossed by means of a rope.
On arrival on the opposite bank, firing positions were taken up and arms fired to show they were unaffected by water.
