Step back in time to the early 1900s and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Market Street, Falmouth, Cornwall. This photograph, taken by Arthur Philp, captures a moment in time when the street was bustling with activity. The image looks down Market Street from outside Olivers boot and shoe shop at number 31.
The scene is alive with movement as boys and men go about their daily business. Some wear caps or hats to shield themselves from the sun, while others sport flat caps or newsboy caps that were popular during this era. The awnings above the shops provide shade and shelter from the elements, creating a sense of intimacy and community.
