In this powerful photograph taken in October 1990, we see a group of determined individuals standing at the top of the lorry escape lane on the St Austell to Lostwithiel road in Cornwall. The photo captures an important moment as local councillors from Lostwithiel engage in discussion with Robert Hicks MP about implementing weight restrictions on the hill leading into their town. The urgency behind this campaign becomes evident when we learn that numerous lorry crashes and tragic deaths have occurred at the bottom of this treacherous hill. The gravity of the situation is palpable as these community leaders gather to address a pressing issue that has plagued their town for far too long.
