EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the Royal Cornwall Museum takes us back in time to around 1920, capturing a picturesque view down Carloggas Hill in St Mawgan, Cornwall. The entrance to Mawgan can be seen in the distance, inviting us into this charming village. The focal point of the image is an elegant motorcar with the registration number BX518. Interestingly, this same car appears in another photograph held by TRURI : MWPct. 5, suggesting its significance during that era. Two individuals are seen seated inside the vehicle, ready for a leisurely drive through the scenic countryside. Photographer Arthur William Jordan skillfully captures not only the beauty of Carloggas Hill but also provides a glimpse into early twentieth-century transportation and leisure activities. This snapshot allows us to imagine what life was like during those simpler times when taking a drive through Cornwall's idyllic landscapes was considered a delightful pastime. The Cornish Jay's Series imprint on this print signifies its connection to local history and culture. It serves as a reminder of how important it is to preserve our heritage and cherish these glimpses into our past
