Juozas Matulis, Lithuanian scientist
Juozas Matulis (1899-1993), Lithuanian-Soviet physicist and chemist. Matulis was born at Tatkonyse and studied at Vilnius and the University of Leipzig. In 1940 he joined the facultu at Vilnius and remianed there for the rest of his long career. He specialised in the study of photochemistry and reaction kinetics. In 1965 he was made a Hero of Soviet Labour and was made president of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. Photographed in 1971
