MiG-29 fighter jet C016 / 7626

A Russian MiG-29 OVT fighter just after take-off. This development prototype features thrust-vectoring nozzles on its engines. These allow the engine exhaust to be pointed off-centre to help increase manoeuvrability. A product of the Mikoyan-Guryevich design bureau, the MiG-29 (NATO reporting name Fulcrum ) is a fourth-generation air superiority fighter. It is powered by two Klimov RD-33 afterburning turbofan jet engines and can reach speeds of Mach 2.25 (2400 km/h) and a ceiling of 18, 000 metres. It is armed with a 30mm cannon and seven hardpoints that can carry missiles, bombs, rocket packs and fuel tanks. The MiG-29 first flew in 1977, entered service in 1983 and over 1600 have been built. MiG-29s have been sold to many air forces across the world

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the remarkable MiG-29 fighter jet C016 / 7626, a Russian development prototype that has just taken off. What sets this aircraft apart is its cutting-edge feature of thrust-vectoring nozzles on its engines. These innovative nozzles allow for the engine exhaust to be directed off-center, greatly enhancing the jet's maneuverability in combat situations. Designed by the renowned Mikoyan-Guryevich design bureau, the MiG-29 (also known as Fulcrum by NATO) represents a pinnacle of fourth-generation air superiority fighters. Its power comes from two Klimov RD-33 afterburning turbofan jet engines, propelling it to speeds of Mach 2.25 (2400 km/h) and enabling it to reach an impressive ceiling of 18,000 meters. Equipped with a formidable arsenal, including a 30mm cannon and seven hardpoints capable of carrying missiles, bombs, rocket packs, and fuel tanks; this aircraft is ready for any mission thrown at it. First taking flight in 1977 and entering service in 1983, over 1600 MiG-29s have been manufactured since then. This exceptional fighter jet has found its way into numerous air forces worldwide due to its outstanding capabilities. The photograph was captured in 2009 by RIA NOVOSTI/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY - showcasing not only the sleekness and power of this twin-engine marvel but also highlighting Russia's continued dedication to aerospace innovation and defense technology throughout the twentieth century into the twenty-first century.
