Arms reduction. The warhead from a RSD-10 Pioneer missile being removed for decommissioning due to an arms reduction agreement. The RSD-10 (NATO reporting name SS-20 Saber ) was an intermediate range nuclear weapon deployed to face NATO forces in Europe. The warhead carried three independent re-entry vehicles, each with an explosive power of 150KT (150, 000 tons of TNT equivalent). The RSD-10 was retired following the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), at which time the USA removed its own Pershing II missiles and BGM-109G cruise missiles from Europe.
