Soviet monument marking the landing site of the first manned spaceflight by Yuri Gagarin. Gagarins flight of 12th April 1961 lasted 108 minutes, during which time he made one complete revolution round the Earth in the Vostok 1 spacecraft. He landed safely 26 kilometres south west of Engels, in the Saratov region of Russia. Gagarin was killed while testing an aircraft on 27th March 1968
