Styracosaurus, artwork

Styracosaurus. Computer artwork of a 17-foot-long (5 metres) Styracosaurus sp. ceratopsid dinosaur eating flowers (order Ericales) amongst ferns, 76 million years ago in what is now North America. On either side are willow (Salix sp.) trees. Styracosaurus was closely related to Triceratops and lived during the Late Cretaceous (around 76.5 - 75 million years ago). It measured up to 5.5 metres in length and its head was crowned with horns protruding from a frill.17 Recent theories have speculated that Styracosaurus may have had an omnivorous diet instead of being strictly vegetarian

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a stunning computer artwork of the mighty Styracosaurus, a ceratopsid dinosaur that roamed North America approximately 76 million years ago. Measuring an impressive 17 feet in length, this herbivorous creature is depicted indulging in a feast of delicate flowers from the Ericales order amidst lush ferns. Towering willow trees frame either side of the scene, adding to the prehistoric ambiance. Belonging to the same family as Triceratops, Styracosaurus possessed a frilled head adorned with magnificent horns. While traditionally believed to be strictly vegetarian, recent theories suggest that this remarkable reptile may have had an omnivorous diet. This revelation adds another layer of intrigue and complexity to its already awe-inspiring existence. The intricate illustration beautifully captures every detail of this long-extinct species, showcasing its biological features and historical significance. As we gaze upon this image, we are transported back in time to witness nature's marvels unfold before our eyes. Walter Myers' artwork not only celebrates the rich diversity of life on Earth but also serves as a reminder of how much there is yet to discover about our planet's ancient inhabitants. This mesmerizing piece invites us into a world where dinosaurs once reigned supreme and encourages us to appreciate their profound impact on our understanding of biology and paleontology.
