Vernier calipers. These are calipers (a type of measuring device) that have a Vernier scale to allow accurate measurements. Here, two sets of jaws at left are used to obtain external (lower jaws) and internal (upper jaws) measurements. The jaws are moved (using the wheel at centre left) to cover the distance to be measured.
