William Penn statue. This statue was erected on top of the Philadelphia City Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Construction of the building began in 1871 and was completed in 1901. The statue is 11.3 metres tall, is hollow, made from bronze, and weighs 27 tons. The design was by the US sculptor Alexander Milne Calder. The English landholder William Penn (1644-1718) was the founder of both Pennsylvania and Philadelphia.
