The view from the vicinity of a hypothetical terrestrial planet and moon orbiting

This is an artists impression of the view from the vicinity of a hypothetical terrestrial planet and moon orbiting the red dwarf star AU Microscopii. The relatively newborn 12 million year-old star is surrounded by a very dusty disk of debris from the collision of comets, asteroids, and planetissimals swirling around the young star. Though no planets have been discovered around the star, the disk is strong circumstantial evidence for planets. Not only is it dusty, but also it is warped, possibly by the pull of one or more planets. In this view the glow of starlight reflecting off the disk creates a broad lane across the sky because the planet is in the disks plane. Similarly, from Earth we see light reflected from interplanetary dust as the zodiacal light (though it is 1/10, 000th as dusty as the AU Microcsopii disk). The star AU Microscopiii is 32 light-years from Earth. From this distance, familiar constellations are still recognizable. In the background, the Beehive cluster in Cancer the Crab is seen. Our Sun appears as a bright star in Cancer

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the breathtaking view from a hypothetical terrestrial planet and moon orbiting the red dwarf star AU Microscopii. The star, only 12 million years old, is encircled by a dusty disk of debris resulting from cosmic collisions between comets, asteroids, and planetissimals. While no planets have been detected around this young star yet, the warped nature of the disk strongly suggests their existence. In this artist's impression, we witness the mesmerizing glow of starlight reflecting off the dust-filled disk as it creates a magnificent lane across the sky. This phenomenon occurs because our vantage point aligns with the plane of the disk where our hypothetical planet resides. A similar effect can be observed on Earth through interplanetary dust known as zodiacal light; however, it pales in comparison to AU Microscopii's dazzling display. Located 32 light-years away from Earth, AU Microscopiii still offers recognizable constellations even at such distance. In this image's backdrop lies Cancer the Crab's Beehive cluster while our own Sun shines brightly as one among many stars in that constellation. As we gaze upon this extraordinary artwork by Stocktrek Images, we are transported to an otherworldly realm where celestial wonders unfold before us. It serves as a reminder of both our insignificance in the vastness of space and humanity's unrelenting curiosity to explore what lies beyond our reach.
