ASTROLOGY - HOROSCOPE OF ECLIPSE
A horoscope chart, cast for the lunar eclipse of 18 March 1345, said by some astrologers to mark the beginning of the Black Death of that year. The chart makes use of astrological sigils which are now defunct: The Ascendant is in 08.38 Scorpio, and the Moon (top left) is in 06.14 Libra. A modern equivalent tabulation, given in modern sigils, is printed alongside to aid identification of the sigils. The chart is from D. Ovason, The Book of the Eclipse, 1999

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a historical horoscope chart, casting light on the lunar eclipse of 18 March 1345. Believed by certain astrologers to have heralded the onset of the devastating Black Death pandemic that ravaged Europe, this chart is an intriguing relic from a bygone era. The intricate design incorporates now-defunct astrological sigils, with the Ascendant positioned at 08.38 Scorpio and the Moon elegantly placed at 06.14 Libra in the top left corner. To aid our modern understanding, a contemporary tabulation featuring updated sigils accompanies this ancient chart. This thoughtful addition allows us to decipher and identify these enigmatic symbols more easily. The photograph originates from D. Ovason's renowned book "The Book of the Eclipse" published in 1999, which delves into esoteric and paranormal subjects without any commercial intentions. Immerse yourself in this mesmerizing image as it offers a glimpse into humanity's fascination with astrology throughout history. Contemplating how celestial events were once believed to hold such profound influence over our lives invites reflection on both our past beliefs and enduring curiosity about what lies beyond our earthly realm.
