Light trail in the Etruscan quarry street

Strada Signorino o Via cava San Antonio. The Signorino road, of Etruscan origin, is a deep path carved into the tuff that winds through the center of the city of Viterbo, in central Italy. In practice it is a Tagliata term used to indicate ancient Etruscan roads, dug deep into the tuffaceous stone, present in the central area of ancient Etruria. Its high walls at the highest points reach up to 12 meters and it is also known as the S. Antonio quarry from an aedicule dedicated to the saint located on one of its walls

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the mesmerizing light trail in the Etruscan quarry street, known as Strada Signorino or Via cava San Antonio. Located in Viterbo, Italy, this ancient road holds immense historical significance as it is of Etruscan origin and was carved deep into the tuffaceous stone. The term "Tagliata" refers to these remarkable ancient Etruscan roads found throughout central Etruria. The image showcases the sheer beauty and architectural marvel of this unique pathway. With walls reaching up to an impressive 12 meters at its highest points, one can't help but be awestruck by its grandeur. It's also interestingly referred to as the S. Antonio quarry due to a dedicated aedicule honoring Saint Anthony positioned on one of its walls. As we observe the luminous trail created by passing lights, we are reminded of how time connects us with our past while propelling us towards an ever-changing future. This photograph not only highlights the speed and variation within our modern world but also serves as a visual representation of connection - connecting us with history, culture, and heritage. Marco Scataglini has masterfully captured this moment in time through his lens for Universal Images Group (UIG). It serves as a testament to both human ingenuity and nature's enduring presence throughout centuries-old civilizations like that of the Etruscans.
