Amedeo Di Castellamonte Elevated View Formal Garden Foundations Old Ruin Parks And Gardens Piedmont Royal Unesco World Heritage List Venaria Reale

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the enchanting gardens of the Royal Palace in Venaria Reale, located in Italy's Piedmont Region. The Royal Palace and its gardens, dating back to the 17th-18th century, hold a prestigious position on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1997. In this image, we are drawn to the ruins of Dianes Temple, originally designed by Amedeo di Castellamonte but dismantled in 1700 under Vittorio Amedeo II's renovation plans for the gardens. The remnants of Dianes Temple tell a tale of history and transformation as they were repurposed for two churches: Sant Uberto and Santa Maria. Standing tall amidst an elevated view, eight marble columns found their new home at each church while leaving behind an intriguing sense of mystery within these formal grounds. With no people present in this scene, our focus is solely on the architectural beauty that surrounds us. The old ruin exudes a timeless charm against the backdrop of meticulously manicured parks and gardens. This horizontal composition allows us to fully appreciate every detail from afar. As we gaze upon this remarkable photograph captured by DEA / C. SAPPA UIG from Universal Images Group (UIG), it transports us into a world where history intertwines with nature seamlessly—a testament to Italy's rich heritage and enduring allure as one of Europe's most cherished travel destinations.
