EDITORS COMMENTS
This iconic photograph captures a pivotal moment in the history of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club: the debut of Adam Hinshelwood as team captain on April 22,2006, during an away match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Taken by renowned sports photographer Paul Hazlewood of Albion Images, the image vividly conveys the intensity and focus of Hinshelwood as he leads his team onto the Molineux Stadium pitch. Hinshelwood, a local product who rose through the Albion youth academy, had been a consistent performer in the heart of the defense since making his professional debut in 2003. His leadership qualities, however, had not gone unnoticed by his teammates and coaches. When regular captain Gordon Greer was sidelined due to injury, Hinshelwood was selected to wear the armband for the first time. The 2005-06 season had been a challenging one for the Seagulls, who were battling against relegation from the Championship. The weight of responsibility on Hinshelwood's shoulders was immense, but he responded admirably, leading by example both on and off the pitch. His performance against Wolves, a 1-1 draw, was a testament to his ability to rise to the occasion and inspire his team. This photograph not only encapsulates the determination and courage of Hinshelwood but also the spirit of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. It serves as a reminder of the club's resilience and the importance of homegrown talent in the face of adversity. The image has become a cherished memento for Albion supporters, who continue to celebrate Hinshelwood's debut captaincy as a pivotal moment in the club's history.
