Created between 1503 and 1505, this hand-colored woodcut is considered the second state according to Hollstein's catalog. The central figure in this piece is Saint Stephen, surrounded by various symbols representing his martyrdom. On either side of him are Saints Valentine and Maximilian, forming a powerful trio of patron saints.
