Old Tom Morris, a native of St. Andrews, was a legendary Scottish golfer, greenkeeper, and clubmaker. He dominated the sport in the mid-19th century, winning the Open Championship four times between 1861 and 1867. His influence on the game extended beyond his playing career, as he helped design courses and popularize the use of the gutta-percha ball.
