The DC-3, a legendary design produced by the Douglas Aircraft Company, is identified by its registration number and manufacturing serial number, msn 4132, and military designation C-49E. The image was captured on July 14, 1960, at 00.03.41, as the aircraft bore the registration number N33677 and was part of the Pennsylvania Central Airlines (PCA) fleet. Prior to joining PCA, the DC-3 was impressed into the United States Army Air Force in 1944, with the registration number N33677 and military designation C-49E. After its service with the Army Air Force, the DC-3 returned to Pennsylvania Central Airlines on April 48, 1948. During its tenure with PCA, it was assigned the fleet number 226-B. In October 1980, the aircraft was registered to H.J. Heinz, bearing the registration number N157H. The DC-3's history continued to evolve, as it was later registered to Bennie E. Conatser in Perris, California, on June 3, 2003, with the registration number N157U. However, the registration was cancelled at an unknown date. This photograph captures a moment in time, showcasing the Douglas DC-3's rich history and its various registrations and uses. The DC-3, a testament to aviation innovation, continues to be a beloved symbol of aviation history.
