EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures Queen Mary of Teck, the consort to King George V of Britain, adorned in a stunning display of high jewels during the 1930s. Born on May 26, 1867, in Kensington Palace, London, Mary of Teck was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Teck. She married the future King George V on June 6, 1893, and became the Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Empress of India. In this image, Queen Mary wears a magnificent high diamond neck choker and a dazzling tiara, both adorned with exquisite diamonds. The necklace, known as the Collar of the Order of the Annunciation, was a gift from King George V for her 50th birthday in 1917. The tiara, called the Queen Mary Fringe Tiara, was made in 1919 using diamonds from the Russian Imperial Crown. The photograph, taken in 1935, showcases Queen Mary's timeless elegance and her unwavering commitment to her role as a monarch. Her regal presence and impeccable sense of style continue to captivate audiences, making this image a must-have for any historical collection. Queen Mary's reign was marked by her dedication to her family and her charitable work, particularly her support for the Red Cross and the Scouting movement. She passed away on March 24, 1953, leaving behind a legacy of grace, strength, and enduring love for her country and her people.
