In this historic photograph, a torpedo is being fired from the forward torpedo tube of HMS Afridi, the largest and most advanced destroyer in the British Royal Navy at the time. HMS Afridi, commissioned in 1936, was a formidable vessel, armed with an impressive array of weaponry including six 4.7-inch guns, eight 2-pounder anti-aircraft guns, and eight torpedo tubes.
