In this thrilling photograph from the Motor Racing Legends event at Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit in October 2022, we find Ben Colburn and Richard Colburn standing proudly next to their classic BMW 3 litre Si. The forty-five minute two driver race, part of the HRDC 'Gerry Marshall' Trophy Series, attracted over thirty cars to the grid, showcasing a diverse array of pre-1980s Touring Cars. The grid was split into four classes, with separate categories for Drum Braked cars and three classes based on engine capacity. In addition, a Willhire class was included for Invited Production Touring Cars, providing an extra level of excitement and competition. The rain-soaked circuit presented a formidable challenge for the drivers, as they navigated the slippery surface and battled for position. The BMW 3 litre Si, with its powerful engine and agile handling, proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Ben and Richard, expertly maneuvering their machine, put on an enthralling display of skill and determination. As the race progressed, the tension mounted, with pit stops and strategy plays adding to the drama. The spray flying off the wet tires and the roar of the engines created an electrifying atmosphere that left spectators on the edge of their seats.
