Freddie Dixon, short burly genial Middlesbrough motor cyclist, burst into car racing fame in the Tourist Trophy Race of 1932, when he led for four hours and then crashed. He won Mannin Beg, 1933, and Brooklands 500 miles, 1934. Enjoyed great year in 1935, when he won the Ulster Tourist Trophy (he is shown after this victory) and Empire Trophy, and was runner-up in the Mannin Beg and International Trophy races. As motor-cyclist won Tourist Trophies in 1923 and 1927. Very clever engineer and largely responsible for design of his cars. Dixon went on to win prestigious races such as Mannin Beg in 1933 and Brooklands 500 miles in 1934. The year 1935 proved to be particularly successful for him as he clinched victory at the Ulster Tourist Trophy and Empire Trophy races. Known for his engineering prowess, Dixon was largely responsible for designing his own cars, showcasing both his driving skills and technical acumen.
