EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the essence of Noel Mavrogordato, a true legend in the world of motorcycle racing. A lifelong enthusiast, he dedicated his entire racing career to stroker bikes. In 1925, he embarked on his Manx journey with a Scott bike and achieved an impressive 7th place finish that year. The chaos of World War II interrupted Mavrogordato's racing dreams, but upon his return post-war, he fearlessly hopped back on two wheels. This time around, he rode DKW and EMC motorcycles as he continued to chase victory on the iconic Isle of Man circuit. His final race at this renowned location took place in 1952 when he secured a commendable 9th position in the fiercely competitive 125 TT category aboard an EMC-Puch. Mavrogordato's passion for vintage bikes was undeniable; it led him to participate in the inaugural Vintage race at Silverstone in 1950 astride a beloved Scott machine. Not only did his skill shine through every twist and turn, but so did his signature pullover - becoming synonymous with this remarkable rider. In this particular image from the BikeSport TT Race Pics collection taken during the 1947 Junior Manx Grand Prix event, we witness Mavrogordato showcasing his talent alongside an EMC motorcycle. Let us celebrate this extraordinary racer who left an indelible mark on motorcycling history with his unwavering dedication and unparalleled love for speed.
