The print titled "An adventurous launch" captures a dramatic moment in history. The image depicts the British aircraft carrier Formidable, moments before its launch in Belfast. However, things did not go as planned. As the ship began to move forward, it threatened to bend over its side and ultimately slipped into the sea, overturning and causing chaos. In the midst of this chaotic scene, timber that held back the ship was thrown into the air, creating a dangerous situation for those nearby. Tragically, a woman lost her life and twenty others were injured when wreckage from scaffolding fell upon them. This illustration originally appeared in Courier Sunday between 27 August-2 September 1939.
