EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite "Reverse of Pendant" created by Charles Ricketts, a renowned English designer. The pendant, measuring 10.1x5.1 cm, is a true masterpiece crafted from gold, enamel, pearl, and watercolor. The intricate design of this Edwardian revival piece is truly mesmerizing. Its ornate baroque motifs and decorative patterns reflect the opulence and elegance of the Art Nouveau era. The portrait within the pendant depicts Miss Cooper's aunt, Katherine Bradley (1846-1914), who was known as Michael in her literary works alongside Miss Cooper herself. The pendant holds sentimental value as it was gifted to Miss Cooper's aunt by Charles Ricketts in May 1901. It symbolizes their close bond as poets writing under the name Michael Field. The creation process involved Carlo & Arthur Giuliano, esteemed makers based in London. Every detail on this miniature artwork has been meticulously designed and executed with great precision by Ricketts himself. From its Renaissance-inspired elements to its delicate pearl embellishments, every aspect speaks volumes about Ricketts' exceptional craftsmanship. Now housed at Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge in the UK, this stunning pendant serves as a testament to British jewelry design during that period. Its beauty transcends time and continues to captivate art enthusiasts worldwide with its ornamental charm and artistic finesse.
