This exquisite 11th century artifact, depicting Kubera, the revered God of Riches in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of South Asia. Carved from magnesian schist, this handcrafted figurine originated from either India or Southeast Asia during the height of the Bishamonten or Vaisravana cult. Kubera is depicted here in a regal pose, adorned with an elaborate headdress and holding a mace and a bowl filled with jewels in his hands. The God of Wealth and Prosperity, Kubera is also considered the God of War in some traditions.
