This stunning 18th century oil painting captures the distinguished figure of Nicolaas Heinsius I (1723-1771), a poet and professor at Leiden University, and the envoy of Queen Christina of Sweden. The portrait, painted by the renowned Dutch artist Jan Maurits Quinkhard (1648-1722), showcases Heinsius in his formal attire, complete with a gilded frame and a voluminous wig.
