1922 British Mount Everest Expedition - the first mountaineering expedition with the express aim of making the first ascent of the worlds highest peak. After two unsuccessful summit attempts the expedition ended on the third attempt when seven porters died as the result of a group-induced avalanche. The party was: Charles G. The team faced numerous challenges during their expedition, making two unsuccessful summit attempts. Tragically, on the third attempt, seven porters lost their lives as a result of a group-induced avalanche. The party, which included Mallory and Irvine, continued their pursuit of the summit but were never seen again. This historic expedition marked a pivotal moment in mountaineering history, with the team pushing the boundaries of human endurance and exploration. Despite the tragic outcome, their efforts paved the way for future expeditions that eventually led to the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.
