"Anne Boleyn, the enigmatic and controversial 2nd Queen of Henry VIII of England, is depicted in this striking portrait from the annals of history. Born in 1501, Anne was the daughter of a wealthy and influential family, making her an attractive match for the king who had grown tired of his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, and was desperate for a male heir. In 1533, Anne gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth, who would go on to become one of history's most celebrated monarchs. Anne's reign was marked by controversy and intrigue. She was accused of adultery with several men, including her brother, George, Lord Rochford, and Sir Henry Percy. The most infamous of these alleged lovers was the courtier, Mark Smeaton.
