Amidst the rugged terrain of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania, the harsh realities of the First World War were etched into the landscape. In this evocative photograph taken circa 1916, barbed wire entanglements stretch across the Torzburg Pass, a strategic military location during the Eastern Front of the Great War.
