At Wattignies: A Drummer-Boy's Brave Deception, October 1793 This evocative image captures the moment of deception and bravery during the Battle of Wattignies, which took place on October 17, 1793, during the French Revolutionary Wars. In the foreground, a young drummer-boy named Sthrau, dressed in the uniform of the French Revolutionary Army, beats his drum with unwavering determination.
