Caroline Ziegler, born in the late 17th century, was a close friend and confidante of the renowned German playwright Friedrich Schiller. This evocative portrait captures the essence of Caroline's vibrant and intelligent spirit, as she gazes introspectively into the distance. Caroline and Schiller's friendship began in the early 1790s, when she was a young widow living in Marbach am Neckar, Germany.
