Dated 1789, this exquisite work of art is part of the Jackson Collection, which showcases the natural wonders of the Australian continent that were just beginning to be explored and documented during this period. The illustration features the majestic Eastern Gray Kangaroo (Macropus giganteus), the largest living marsupial species, standing gracefully amidst a grove of Xanthorrhoea s, commonly known as grass trees or gum-plants.
