The engraving is based on an illustration by the renowned English botanical artist, Richard Duppa, from his seminal work, "The Classes and Orders of the Linnaean System of Botany," published in London by Longman, Hurst in 1816. The Hemlock Stork's Bill, also known as Redstem Filaree or Hemlock Filaree, is native to Europe, Asia, and North America. It is characterized by its slender, red-tinged stems, which can grow up to 60 cm tall, and its distinctive, pink or purple, five-petaled flowers.
