EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the facade of the Crown Public House, located in Norwood, London, during the 1940s. The image, taken in the late 1940s, shows the pub's distinctive frontage with its ornate brickwork and large, arched windows. The Crown, which was located at 121 Knights Hill, Norwood, London SE27 9SE, was a popular local watering hole with a rich history. As evidenced by the back of the print, the pub had a trading record dating back to 1938 and 1961. The Crown was once under the management of Hoare & Company Limited, although it is important to note that this is not the same Hoare's Group that is known for its banking and financial services. Unfortunately, by July 2018, the Crown Public House had been demolished, making way for new developments. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of a bygone era, offering a glimpse into the past and the history of this once-beloved local pub in Norwood, London.
