EDITORS COMMENTS
Beagle A.61 Terrier 2 G-ASAC (circa 1963): This vintage photograph captures the Beagle A.61 Terrier 2, registration number G-ASAC (msn B.606, ex-WE587), of the Airways Aero Club. The Auster T.7 WE587 was delivered to the Royal Air Force (RAF) on 9 January 1951, and later served with No. 651 Squadron and 1908 Flight. In September 1957, it was transferred to the Army Air Corps. After being struck off charge when sold on 31 December 1961, the Auster was converted to an A.61 Terrier 2 by Beagle Aircraft. Sadly, the aircraft was written off when it crashed during landing at Plymouth Airport, Plymouth, Devon (EGHD), on 4 September 1964. The Beagle A.61 Terrier 2 was a result of Auster Aircraft's conversion of ex-Army aircraft, which became the Auster 6B. When Auster became part of Beagle Aircraft in 1960, the designation was changed to Beagle A.61 Terrier. This photograph, taken around 1963, showcases the versatility and history of this iconic aircraft in the aviation world.
