This vintage photograph captures the sleek and powerful Falck Special N60089 Rivets Formula One racer in action during a pre-1954 race. With race number 92 displayed prominently on its side, this open-wheel racing machine was a force to be reckoned with. Powered by an 85hp Continental C85 engine, Rivets had a wingspan of 17 feet 8 inches and a length of 17 feet 0 inches. Originally designed to be flown from the prone position, the Goodyear race rules mandated conventional seating, forcing Falck to make modifications to accommodate the change. Rivets, with its distinctive silver and blue livery, was a record-breaking racer with an impressive career tally of 24 first-place finishes, making it the most successful racer of its time. However, tragedy struck on September 3, 1977, when the car was destroyed in a crash, taking the life of its driver, Falck, who was not affiliated with the Falck company. Despite its tragic end, Rivets remains an iconic symbol of Formula One racing history and a testament to the daring spirit of its era.
